ClickToFlash is a highly customizable extension that prevents Safari from launching the Flash plug-in automatically, resulting in faster browsing, reduced fan usage, and increased battery life. It replaces every Flash object by an unobtrusive placeholder that can be clicked to load the Flash content. Further, it can replace many Flash-based media players by Safari’s native HTML5 media player.

TftpServer is a utility which helps you to utilize and configure the TFTP server shipped with the standard Mac OSX distribution. 

Using this application you can start/stop the TFTP service on your Mac and change its working path, that’s where the files are sent to and received from by any TFTP client (e.g. a Cisco router or switch). In addition, other features are available to help you to seamlessy send and receive files from any TFTP enabled device to a Macintosh acting as TFTP server. 

This is useful if you have a lot of network devices and want to store in a safe place all their configuration files and operating system binary images. These files can be reused later (or modified using a text editor on your Mac) to easily configure from scratch other similar devices or update their system image files.

Ambientweet is a minimalist twitter client, and it is intended to just be left running in the background, as a way of watching your twitter stream pass by. 

Ambientweet shows just one tweet at a time. This is a deliberate design decision, which allows for a minimal user interface. This, in turn, means that the text can be bigger and there’s no need for extraneous clutter like toolbars or buttons whilst you watch the twitter world go by. 

You can use Ambientweet to post, reply and re-tweet, so it’s perfectly adequate for adding to your stream and responding to what you read. What it doesn’t include is lots of complicated functionality for viewing profiles, following people, managing lists and accounts, and so on. The Twitter website is great at that stuff, so why try to replicate it?

Transmission is a fast, easy, and free multi-platform BitTorrent client. 

Transmission sets initial preferences so things “Just Work”, while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks. Macworld put it this way: “It’s fast, it’s extremely lightweight, and – even though it’s available for a variety of platforms – it behaves just as you’d expect a Mac program to.” 

Transmission supports full encryption, file selection, a web-based interface, groups, peer exchange, automatic port forwarding, webseeds, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more. 

Its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.

GlimmerBlocker… The problem with other ad-blockers for Safari is that they are implemented as awful hacks: as an InputManager and/or ApplicationEnhancer. This compromises the stability of Safari and very often create problems when Apple releases a new version of Safari. GlimmerBlocker is implemented as an http proxy, so the stability of Safari isn’t compromised because it doesn’t use any hacks. It is even compatible with all other browsers. 

You’ll always be able to upgrade Safari without breaking GlimmerBlocker (or waiting for a new release); and you’ll be able to upgrade GlimmerBlocker without upgrading Safari. This makes it much easier to use the beta versions of Safari and especially the nightly builds of WebKit. Because GlimmerBlocker doesn’t hack Safari, there is a few things it isn’t able to do: adding a block by right-clicking an image, stopping pop-unders, and filtering cookies from 3rd party sites. But you win a lot in stability, and GlimmerBlocker provides much easier methods for adding your own modifications to pages by adding css rules, pieces of Javascript or by transforming the html before Safari receives it. So I’ll hope you’re happy with the tradeoff. 

If you can program in Javascript you’ll be able to add your own modification to pages. See the included filters for examples, e.g. adding a download link to YouTube.
