Candelair is an alternative driver for the built-in IR receiver as found in many Mac’s today. It provides a clean, global fix for Apple® Remote issues many users are experiencing with third party applications under Snow Leopard releases 10.6 and 10.6.1. It’s based on Remote Buddy’s driver and comes packaged in a preference pane that presents all remote control options at a glance. Candelair is a free download.

Features:

  • Global fix for Apple® Remote IR Receiver locking issues – as seen under OS releases 10.6 and 10.6.1
  • Pairing always available – remotes can be paired regardless of whether an application currently holds an exclusive lock on the IR Receiver
  • Powerful preference pane – dynamic, context-sensitive interface for installing and uninstalling the Candelair driver, pair remotes and more

What’s new:

Version 1.1 (driver 1.8.0):

  • NEW: Support for the new Aluminum Apple® Remote
  • Change: The compatibility mode for applications with 10.5 dependencies has been renamed to “Legacy Compatibility Mode”.
  • Note: If you want to use an application under OS 10.6.2 whose Apple® Remote support works under 10.5, but not under 10.6.2: try enabling the “Legacy Compatibility Mode” in Candelair’s prefs and relaunch the incompatible application in question. When this mode is active, the Candelair driver mimics the 10.5 version of the OS X driver. The solution for developers to OS version compatibility issues: our driver-independent HIDRemote class.

Version 1.0.2 (driver 1.7.2):

  • Enhancement: Support for “Safe Boot” booting mode (the driver is loaded later during the boot process).
  • Fix: Bugfixes.
