Macspice Logo

Macspice-4

MacSpice 3f5… Circuit simulation is a way of building and testing virtual models of electronic devices. It is usually cheaper and quicker to simulate a design than to build a prototype. MacSpice, like most circuit simulators, requires a text-file description of the circuit as input. This netlist is a list of components and the nodes they connect to. Users may prepare netlists with a text editor, or derive them from a circuit diagram using a third-party schematic-capture application. MacSpice then builds a numerical model of the circuit and analyses this.
A command interpreter (shell) is used to specify the types of analyses that are required and how the results should be processed, saved or displayed. The high quality of the MacSpice command interpreter makes the automation of tasks straightforward.
MacSpice has native support for both PowerPC and Intel architecture Apple Macintosh computers. It is derived from, and compatible with, Berkeley Spice 3f5. MacSpice incorporates many improvements to Spice 3f5 - from simple bug-fixes to entirely new commands, algorithms and solution strategies. For example: the memory leaks that affected Spice 3f4 have been cured; new algorithms have been developed to facilitate the simulation of large circuits, and to reduce simulation time; MacSpice provides a robust multi-parameter optimizer and facilities for inter-process communication with other applications.

Where Is M13 Logo

Where Is M13

Where is M13? is an astronomy application that helps you visualize the 3-D locations and physical properties of common deep sky objects. This perspective is rarely discussed in astronomy books and software products on the market, which focus mainly on apparent data such as an object’s look, visual magnitude, apparent size, right ascension and declination. Where is M13? aims to address this important lack.

Using paired face-on and edge-on views, the Galaxy View shows you where that cluster or nebula you enjoy viewing in your telescope is actually located relative to the center and plane of the Galaxy, providing a unique three-dimensional perspective of the Galaxy.
The Object List provides important physical information about the objects you choose to list. Galactic latitudes and longitudes as well as luminosities, true sizes, and distances are displayed. A quick click of a checkbox brings up a display of the equivalent apparent data.
The Sky View shows you where the objects displayed in the Galaxy View are located in the night sky, using a star map plotted in galactic coordinates. This use of galactic coordinates, rather than the more common equatorial coordinates, helps you really understand the relationship between what you see in the night sky and an object’s galactic location.
We think you’ll find that Where is M13? literally adds another dimension to your night sky observing. Enjoy exploring this new perspective!

Thunderbird Logo

Mozilla’s Thunderbird mail client is a redesign of the Mozilla mail component. Our goal is to produce a cross platform stand alone mail application using the XUL user interface language. We are modeling ourselves after the Firebird rewrite of the Mozilla browser. Our intended customer is someone who uses Firebird (or another non-mozilla browser) as their primary browser and wants a mail client based on mozilla that “plays nice” with their browser. Currently, mozilla-mail is not a good option for these users because link clicks and attachments end up going to mozilla browser windows instead of the preferred browser. In addition, by focusing solely on stand alone mail, we believe we can make some dents in the overall footprint and performance of the mail client by removing components and chrome we don’t need. On top of that, the UI becomes much cleaner as a standalone application as opposed to being part of the mozilla suite.
